You may have sensitive items to store that need
a little special care - that's where heated storage can be helpful. In the
Northwest during the winter
months, there is a lot of moisture in the air. Some of our facilities provide
heated units that have enough heat to take most of the moisture out of the
air. We usually heat to about 45° F, which generally prevents moisture
from getting inside the unit.
If you have sensitive belongings, furniture, or books
and valuable paper items, heated storage might be for you.
You
may want to rent
a heated unit for your most valuable things and a non-heated unit for the
more durable items.
There are also things you can do when packing to prevent
moisture
in the air from ruining your valuables. Things such as wrapping book boxes
in plastic garbage bags or covering the tops of tables with a blanket
and a thin
plastic cover sheet, will go a long way in preventing air moisture and
condensation from occurring. The safest solution, however, is to secure a
heated space.
All of our facilities have heated storage as an option. Ask one of
our expert storage managers on site to help you decide if heated storage
would be best for your things.
